I received an email from my consultant this evening saying that he needs more time to think about the treatment plan. However, he wants me to get the ureteric stent underway, and has arranged an appointment for me with a consultant urologist early in February.
We’re going to talk about the overall treatment plan on Wednesday evening, but it looks like he’s coming down in favour of opening up the abscess, putting me on antibiotics, and possibly back onto a temporary ileostomy again.
I’m thinking that his hesitancy in coming to a definitive treatment plan is another reason to think that getting a second opinion may be helpful. I suspect he’s consulting with specialists in the field already, but I’ll mention it to him when we talk, and see what he thinks of doing something more formally.
