Back under the knife

And with some trepidation I can announce that the dates for my operation are through from my surgeon.

I’m going to be admitted to hospital on the 6th of June (“D Day”, no less!) for the main operation. I’ll then undergo further “procedures” every 2-3 days for the remainder of the month to change drains and internal dressings. Initially those will be under general anaesthetic, but potentially just light sedation later. The expectation is for me to be in hospital for 3 weeks, and to need at least the whole month of June off work.

I always knew this was going to be a fairly grim undertaking, but now it’s about to happen I must admit to having some doubts over whether or not I’ve made the right decision. I guess like all these things, if it works and I get the result I want then I’ll proudly proclaim that of course I made the right decision, and if it doesn’t I’ll silently kick myself for putting myself through this for nothing. Basic human nature!

Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
